We are looking for a Casework Volunteer!

Volunteering 1 August 2019

Who we are

Room to Heal is a human rights charity and therapeutic community based in London. We support refugees and asylum seekers who have survived torture, trafficking and other gross human rights abuses to rebuild their lives in exile through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance. At the heart of our work lies the cultivation of community, through which our members can restore meaningful relationships with themselves and others, overcoming the legacy of their traumatic experiences. We support over 100 members from 30 different countries.

About the role

We are looking for the new casework volunteer to support our casework team on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are the busiest days for our community – being the day that our members attend for group therapy, a community lunch and afternoon activities. This role would entail assisting our members resolve immediate casework needs and queries following our community lunch.

This role will entail working directly with Room to Heal members, and supporting them with issues relating to housing, immigration, destitution, and education and employment. As a volunteer, you will receive training and materials from our casework team to get you started, and you will be working closely with our casework team. You will also be offered monthly non-clinical supervision for emotional support, which our volunteers are encouraged to attend.

The deadline to apply for this role is September 27, by 5pm. For all information, please download our volunteer role description below. To apply, please send a cover letter and CV outlining how you meet the person specification for this opportunity and why you are interested in volunteering at Room to Heal to Anna at anna@roomtoheal.org.
