Hackney vs Highbury Charity Match

Hackney Ladies took on Highbury Ladies in a Charity Match on Sunday 24th of April. The day was a great success and with an amazing £2,500 being raised for Room to Heal through JustGiving.
A big thank you to all who participated, helped and donated. To GLL for donating some of the courts and facilitating bookings at Highbury Fields and to Sally and Nigel from Local Tennis Leagues who gave out the prizes. Thirty two players, 17 from Highbury and 15 from Hackney played doubles with and against each other. Highbury’s most valuable player was Raphaele and Hackney’s most valuable player was Alice. In a very close contest Highbury just coming out on top (the total score of the middle six players from each team). Congratulations to Raphaele, Alice and Team Highbury! Team Hackney – training starts for next year now!
The teams hope to make this an annual tradition, expanding to include the men’s teams and look forward to the return match next year at Hackney!
