Referrals

We are currently open for referrals

Currently, we are only open to referrals for women to join our mixed-gender therapy groups. This is to retain an approximate gender balance within our groups.

Referrals submitted now will be considered for the waiting list for our longer term therapy group which accepts new entrants on a rolling basis.

Regarding referral criteria, we are currently accepting referrals for women who:

  • Are resident in London, with an address in any London borough.
  • Any kind of forced migrant / asylum seeker / refugee background, with a fear of return to their home country, seeking protection in the UK.
  • Experience of any from: torture, trafficking, state violence, serious organised violence from non-state actors which invovles persecution
  • Are happy to participate in group therapy. We do not offer any individual therapy. These therapy groups are all mixed-gender groups which the person should be prepared to participate in. (Therapeutic support is given beforehand to support comfortable entry into a group setting)
  • Speak English to an intermediate level. Due to our group therapy dynamic, we do not work with any interpreting or translating services. It is not necessary that a person be fluent, but they must be able to complete therapeutic assessment sessions and participate in therapy which is all facilitated in English language.
  • Available to commit to weekly in-person sessions in Islington, every Tuesday 11:30 – 13:00 (we provide travel fares)

We only accept external referrals for people seeking talking therapy, to join a therapeutic group. Whilst we offer other community activities, these are not open to external referrals. Our other services which make up part of our holistic Therapeutic Community model include things like cooking, gardening, yoga, various trips, therapeutic retreats. Whilst no member has any obligation, they are encouraged to participate in community activities where possible. Again, support is given to people to enter these community activities and build their confidence in socialising with other community members.

Members who are in a therapy group, also receive an assigned caseworker to provide casework assistance with various areas including immigration, health, education, advocacy etc.

If you wish to refer somebody for our group, I advise you to do it as soon as possible as we will likely not remain open for referrals for a long time. In a case where someone is placed on a waiting list, this is only after they have already successfully completed the assessment process and are confirmed to be joining a therapy group once a space becomes available for them.
